Negombo - Pinnawela - Kandy
|After breakfast proceed to Kandy.|
En route visit Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage. Started in 1975 to house the abandoned and the wounded, the orphanage has grown to be a big family today. The number of elephants has increased to more than 40 now, including baby elephants brought from various parts, as well as the babies born, as a result of the captive-breeding programme. Lunch at Elephant Bay Restaurant.
Continue to Kandy. Embark on a city tour of Kandy, including Upper Lake Drive, Market Square, Arts & Crafts Centre, Gem Museum & Temple of Tooth Relic. Kandy is the hill capital and venue of the annual Perahera. The last stronghold of the Sinhala Kings was finally ceded to the British in 1815. Kandy is an example of the Buddhism's influence in Sri Lanka today. Temples and monasteries keeping Buddhist traditions alive are everywhere.
In the afternoon visit Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic. Ever since 4th Century A.D, when the Buddha's Tooth was brought to Sri Lanka hidden from sacrilegious hands in an Orissan princess' hair, the Relic has grown in repute and holiness in Sri Lanka and throughout the Buddhist world. It is considered Sri Lanka's most prized possession. Witness a cultural show featuring various dance groups of Sri Lanka.
Kandy - Mawanella - Colombo
|After breakfast proceed to Colombo.
En route visit a Spice Garden in Mawanella to see the different spices, which Sri Lanka is famous for. You will be introduced to different spices and shown how some of these spices are grown and processed.
Continue to Colombo. Lunch at Raja Bojun Restaurant.
Commence city tour of Colombo. A drive through the city takes you to the busy commercial areas as well as the tree-lined residential, Cinnamon Gardens. Visit Fort, the former British administrative center and military garrison and also Sea Street, the Goldsmith’s quarters in the heart of Pettah. Head to the Bazaar area, where there is a Hindu Temple with elaborate stone carvings, and the Dutch Church of Wolfendhal dating back to 1749. Also visit the BMICH, see the replica of Avukana Buddha and Independence Square.
Your afternoon will be spent shopping in Colombo. Visit ODEL, the first department store in Sri Lanka. Wide varieties of merchandise await you. Get handmade products at Barefoot. Whether it’s daily needs or fashion products, you will be treated to quality products. House of Fashion, a large four-story mall, has a wide variety of apparel, handbags, luggage and home decor at very reasonable prices.
Continue your shopping at Paradise Road. It is an upscale boutique selling high quality Sri Lankan home furnishings and handicrafts. Also visit Stone & String, a brand specializing in designer jewelry and other quality jewelries.
Transfer to Hotel.

Visit Negombo, a famous fishing village North of Colombo, with a Dutch-built Canal. The canal itself is a hive of activity with fishermen traveling up and down in their gaily-painted boats. On the shores of the canal you will find many homes and churches and many species of birds including spectacular Kingfishers.
